Under water adventures

If you're looking for an adrenalin rush, head for Port Lincoln, where you can hand-feed then dive with massive blue fin tuna. Watch one of nature’s most amazing creatures, the great white shark from the safety of a steel cage.

A little lower on the "scary" scale, swim with the only mainland colony of Australian sea lions at Baird Bay. Tumble and turn with the sea lions as they play around you.

Point Lowly near Whyalla is home to the world's biggest giant cuttlefish colony. Every May, 250,000 of these magnificently coloured creatures flock to the warm, shallow waters to breed.

On the beach

Our beaches are known for their pristine white sand and turquoise-blue water. Jetties are common in most towns and are a favourite with the younger family members.

Bait a hook and go fishing. No rod? Well, go crabbing, hunt for cockles or shuck some fresh oysters.

If you’re missing school, enrol in “surf school” because Eyre Peninsula waves are some of the best in South Australia.

During the months May to September watch the southern right whales bask at the Head of the Bight.

National parks

Visit our national parks for camping, walking, fishing and checking out the native animals. After dark, book a guided tour. You might see an elusive wombat emerge from his burrow or possums playing in the tree branches.
